Step 5: Setting up basic leave types for the company.

Summary

Different companies have different type of leaves, separate from the mandatory leaves specified by local government bodies. Payboy allows you to customize different categories of leaves used by your company - this is known as Leave Types.

Correctly setting up your Leave Types is important as they will affect:

  • Automatic calculation of the number of working days for an employee

  • Calculation of an employee's salary during payroll generation


How to create a new Leave Type

  • Open the sidebar and select Leave > Leave Types

  • At the top of the screen, select +Add Leave Type

Firstly, you will have to select the category of the new leave type. The categories are:

  • You can edit various leave-type settings. For a guide on filling in the leave type settings, you may refer to this article.

  • Once done with the adjustments, click on "Submit".


How do I assign a leave type to the employees?

  • First, click on the text under the "Entitled to" column next to the leave type that you would like to assign.

  • Then, click on the "+ Mass Assign" button at the top right corner.

  • Here, you can select the level of the mass assignment. For example, by selecting "Company", everyone in the company will be assigned this leave type.

  • You may also indicate an expiry date for this assignment if needed.

Once done, click on the "Submit" button.


How do I view, edit or delete the leave types?

You may click on these action buttons:

  • Eye icon - View leave type

  • Pencil icon - Edit leave type

  • Red bin icon - Delete the leave type
